This white paper reviews literature and other findings from nongovernmental organizations that point to an intermediary agency as providing the best model for delivering wraparound services to youth returning to their communities after involvement in the U.S. justice system.

Youth Development Practitioner Apprenticeship

The YDPA program is a registered apprenticeship program, certified by the U.S. Department of Labor (US DOL), to prepare entry-level youth development professionals. As a registered apprenticeship, the program includes 3000-4000 hours of On the Job learning (OJL) and 350 hours of Related Technical Instruction (RTI). Apprentices are typically young people between the ages of 18-24.
