The YDPA program is a registered apprenticeship program, certified by the U.S. Department of Labor (US DOL), to prepare entry-level youth development professionals. As a registered apprenticeship, the program includes 3000-4000 hours of On the Job learning (OJL) and 350 hours of Related Technical Instruction (RTI). Apprentices are typically young people between the ages of 18-24.

On April 1, 2020, CLASP and FHI 360 hosted a webinar on supporting young adults with transformation, reentry, and connections to employment. We discussed how communities are connecting young adults who have been impacted by the criminal justice system to employment, education pathways, and supportive services.
This paper offers programmatic solutions for education and employment for young people impacted by the U.S. justice system. These best practices were informed by work from the Compass Rose Collaborative.
