Thank you for your interest in FHI 360’s Institute for Work and Learning (IWL) apprenticeship programs. We are seeking organizations interested in recruiting, training, and upskilling current or new employees in the care economy including Community Health Workers (CHW), Peer Support Specialists (PSS), Substance Use Disorder and Mental Health Counselors (SUD-MHC) and Youth Development Practitioner (YDP). Through these programs, FHI 360 aims to address a growing need in the care economy by creating alternate entry points into the field and opening fulfilling career pathways that may otherwise be unavailable to individuals best suited to support their communities. Below is a brief overview of the program and the responsibilities of both your organization and FHI 360:
FHI 360 will:
- Provide materials and related technical instruction (RTI) training for apprentices and offer ongoing program support.
- Coordinate with the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) on apprentice certification and credentialing.
- Monitor apprentice progress and competency attainment.
- Support an equitable apprenticeship ecosystem within the care economy.
- Collect evidence and case studies to inform future programming and highlight impact.
Your organization will:
- Recruit apprenticeship candidates (if applicable).
- Employ and pay apprentices, including providing a pay increase before apprenticeship completion.
- Supervise and evaluate apprentice progress.
- Assign a mentor to support, challenge, motivate, and inspire apprentices.
- Align on-the-job learning with related technical instruction (RTI) competencies.
